The simple truth: With beauty products less is more
Use as little ingredients as possible
When it comes to beauty products life is complicated, though it definitely shouldn’t be. We are surrounded by a market full of marketing-driven names and sophisticated products impossible to pronounce. Sadly only few of them work. What’s worse ist, some of them even make you break out instead of look good. This is in no small part due to too many ingredients and today we’re looking atthe opposite of the spectrum: Beauty products with so little ingredients that you know perfectly well what you’re getting yourself into. Here are three products with less than ten active ingredients that will keep your mind sane and your skin in perfect shape:
I am obsessed with everything that involves lips products: lipstick, balm, softener…I like to try every sort of new product. The A4 Cosmetics Kiss&Help lip balm has one of the most pleasant textures I have seen. It spreads easily, absorbs quickly and makes the lips velvety soft. Besides argan oil with its anti-aging effect, the organic stick contains soothing Shea Butter, anti inflammatory Boswelia serrata extract and smoothing avocado oil. In addition, lanolin, which prevents the lips from getting dry. Besides a handful amount of natural ingredients, this lip butter is the most transparent one I have found when it comes to its composition.
UMA’s botanical-print glass bottles are so beautiful that’s already a good reason to try them. The ‘Ultimate Brightening Face Oil’ is charged with a triple-action blend of Sandalwood and Rose essential oils to deliver an intense hit of hydration. Enhanced with rejuvenating Frankincense, Vitamin C-rich Orange and Neroli, it naturally stimulates rapid resurfacing of your skin, diminishes signs of fatigue and balances your complexion. This oil is 100% natural and organic. The lavender, Ylang Ylang and Geranium repair damaged cells and create instant luminosity. I usually am not a big fan of face oils as I always have the feeling that they do not absorb properly. Surprisingly, the high absorbent Pomegranate ensures rapid results and it’s especially effective if you have a dry skin.
I live for toners. Before going to bed, when I get up, before putting my make-up on I always use my favorite toner. The Dr. Hauschka clarifying toner gently guides and balances the skin’s natural processes for a radiant, rosy complexion. As part of a daily skin care routine, this oil-free formulation is the ideal toning product for blemished, large-pored and oily skin. Anthyllis, calendula and nasturtium reduce excessive oil production and soothe irritation. After cleansing in the morning and evening, mist Clarifying Toner onto the face then gently press into the skin. All the ingredients are natural and organic, certified to NATRUE standards. In addition, they are free from synthetic fragrances, dyes and preservatives, as well as mineral oil, parabens, silicones and PEGs. Wherever possible, all raw materials come from controlled organic or biodynamic cultivation and are recovered under fair conditions.
Earth Tu Face makes the perfect honey + coconut mask for stressed, tired or winter-worn complexions. This is my survival secret for the cold season. It’s made from antioxidant-rich raw Honey and hydrating Virgin Coconut Oil, as well as Lavender and Rose petals harvested from the brand’s gardens in North California. All the ingredients are natural and the mask is free from alcohol, fragrance, toxins, refined oils, fillers and synthetic ingredients.
All in one cream
RMS Beauty’s raw Coconut cream is great for when I travel and don’t want to take too many products with me. It is a super effective all-in-one makeup remover, facial cleanser and skin moisturizer. With every living enzyme and nutrient left untouched, this richly whipped conditioner emulsifies into a nourishing, lightweight oil. The coconut is Certified Organic.
