Fashion Revolution week
Armedangels and the Fashion Revolution Week
The Fashion Revolution is a movement encouraging millions of shoppers to ask brands #whomademyclothes and demand greater transparency. Each year, the Fashion Revolution Foundation addresses to dedicated individuals, organizations and fair fashion brands to be open about their work. Around 1,130 people lost their lives in 2013. The disaster drew the attention of the world’s population to the inhumane working conditions behind the manufacture of many pieces of clothing. As we are commemorating the fifth anniversary of the Rana Plaza collapse, what has changed and what have brands done to improve their transparency? We must not forget that there are many people all over the world who live in and work under unfair conditions – in Europe as well as in other continents.
ARMEDANGELS is a big player taking part of the Fashion Revolution Week to raise awareness of the abuses in our world and to make a difference! #jointherevolution. As a little reminder that it is up to us all to make this world a better one, the Cologne based label has designed a special shirt as part of the Fashion Revolution Week 2018. The front of the shirt with the “It’s on us ” slogan is a recall to remember consumers that all of us have to change something together. The back of the shirt show the geographical coordinates of Savar, where Rana Plaza was situated. The T-shirts are made exclusively from production residues, therefore extremely sustainable. All proceeds from the sale of the T-shirts will be donated by ARMEDANGELS to the National Garment Workers Federation (NGWF).
In addition to hosting protests following the Rana Plaza disaster, the organization is also involved in the development of a building and fire safety agreement for Bangladesh, helping textile workers act legally against poor pay and unfair dismissals, and is actively promoting more Women’s rights in Bangladesh.
