AND HOW IS THAT ETHICAL? Mara Hoffman was not created as a sustainable brand. However, with its fast growth the company became aware of the impact of fast fashion on the planet and realised the importance of a responsible production. Mara Hoffman revised her production process as well as the sourcing processes in order to become more sustainable and to be able to create ethically made clothes. The company is committed to sourcing eco-conscious and sustainable materials, such as Nylon made from recycled plastic bottles and Polyester made from post consumer recycled polymers. Mara Hoffman also uses cotton certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), Lenzing Tencel, Modal or Rayon made from the pulp of sustainably harvested trees and fabrics bearing the Oeko-Tex® 100 certification. Mara Hoffman supports the CanopyStyle campaign to protect ancient and endangered forests. Responsible manufacturing is also part of the company’s ethos – a close relationship with all suppliers and factories is fundamental to guarantee fair wages and safe working conditions.
