The Swedish brand with its great base of classic staples turns one
Today marks the first birthday of Arket, a brand that’s sparked my interest every since its launch a year ago: Arket is an offspring of the H&M family that offers utterly wearable fashion classics. What’s more – they produce mostly transparently as well as socially and ecologically sound. Great fashion with a sound production, now that’s reason to celebrate!
The brands’ take on fashion is contemporary: Instead of throw-away fast fashion they center their offering around timeless classics. There’s the perfect white t-shirt, the perfect pair of denim jeans, the ultimate sweatshirt, trench and so on. Each and every item is made with a keen eye for quality materials and design and if you shop through the website you can trace back production to the very factory where it’s been made. You can also get info on whether it’s conventional, organic or recycled materials used for the fabric.
Arket is the go to – for men, women and children by the way – if you’re looking to create a great base of classic staples. I’ve personally found the perfect black turtleneck sweater, the perfect white tee and perfect dark blue denim with a straight fit there. What’s even better is that the items live up to their promise. “We aim to democratise quality through widely accessible, well-made, durable products, designed to be used and loved for a long time”, says Creative Director Ulrika Bernhardtz. They actually live up to the test, even if you put them on heavy rotation.
Personally I’m ready to tap into their Merino offering and have my eyes on a baby-blue rollneck jumper made from 14 gauge Merino coming fro non-mulesed sheep and certified according tot he Responsible Wool standard. Happy Birthday!
