Shoe of the moment – the cowboy boots

It’s back and it has shed its farm appeal

Here we are, me talking to you about a new – not so new – trend that I am not convinced about. Nonetheless, it has captured my curiosity and interest and we felt like we couldn’t just ignore it! I am talking about the comeback of cowboy boots. Shoes is a sensitive topic and I feel like when it comes to find the right pair to wear everyday the options are not that many – and even less if you opt for a comfortable style. Sneakers, boots, loafers… they are always an easy and safe choice. I am not too familiar with cowboy boots – I was too young when they had their golden ages and the only association I have is western movies or Madonna’s video “Don’t tell me” where she pulled off a complete cowgirl outfit (I loved it!). Ever since I’ve been wondering if I, too, can do the cowboy boot.

I have been surprised by the comeback of cowboy boots, but they got my attention! The catwalk take on this western revival – just thinking about Saint Laurant, Vetements, Celine or Isabel Marant –  can best be described as ‘souped up’. White leather, tough metal detailing and patchwork… however, we’re also still fans of the more traditional styles. Cowboy boots are perfect for urban girls – they have made me re-think everything I know. There’s something incredibly fascinating and awesome at the same time about them. One thing is for sure: it’s all about what you wear them with! First, you can forget about anything else with western connotations at the ranch or rodeo (that includes denim, checked shirt and anything resembling a cowboy hat). The cowboy key is to dress naturally, almost casually, and personally, I prefer a straight leg (as opposed to skinny, flared or bootcut) jean and a plain t-shirt. If you are feeling it, you can also try with a dress and some minimal jewelry. You can’t overthink it but you do have to be strategic. And confident!
